I apologise if this is not the appropriate forum, but after a recent security scare, I ran an online scan from the BitDefender website. It identifies files that are part of the mwav scanner utility as being a virus, with the following results:
"Infected with: BehavesLike:Win32.FileInfector".

I'm concerned. Should I uninstall mwav, or is this a false positive?

Many thanks

Try cross-checking the BitDefender results with these other on-line AV scans:

The cross-checking is certainly a good idea, but I feel very sure that this is a false positive.

Thanks Oldfrog, I think you're right. I scanned with trendmicro last night, and there were no results pertaining to mwav. Thank you for taking the time to look at and respond to this topic. I was quite concerned that I'd downloaded software that was going to cause more problems.
