My subscription to a well known AV system is coming due in less than 30 days now and I would like to try the AVG Pro before I sign up with them again if I choose too. I had the free AVG version on my unit for a while with the existing one and there didn't seem to be any conflicts so I'm thinking just download the AVG and then turn off the other one while AVG goes to work?
Or maybe I should uninstall the existing AV before I download the trial version of AVG Pro?

What do y'all suggest that I should I do and how would I go about downloading the AVG with the existing AV system in operation to insure the least trouble? I am wanting to do this sometime tomorrow or the next day.

You can download the AV without problems. I have read of some installing AVG while another AV was still installed. You can try it, but my own experience is that there will be enough conflicts that you can not make a fair trial.

I once had AVG and Avast installed at the same time, but soon fround that I could not get my email. That happened twice.

Best,
Jerry

Thanks Jerry but what I was wanting was a way to install AVG and uninstall my old paid AV without having an AV running when I went online.

A friend helped me out... Told me to install AVG to a folder but not to run the installation right then. Then disconnect from the Internet and uninstall my old AV and then install AVG. I am now a happy user of AVG and with no problems. Smile
And I gained quite a bit of CPU as the old AV I had was a resource hog along with SpySweeper which I no longer have. Razz Along with CounterSpy and the AVG my CPU is now running happily along from 3% to 16% with an occasional jump to around 80% but those are about a page apart with the task manager minimized. My PF usage is 402 MB with 37 processes running.
All in all considerably better than what I did have. Cool
