if you really want to clean up left overs after program uninstalls, you should track the registry changes during installation of program and then remove them using something like totaluninstall.
That's not fool proof because the program may add registry changes when it is running, so even better is to run it in sandboxie which keep tracks of any and all changes, so you can flush it away with one step, no need to uninstall even if you like! SVV is even better.
Your registry cleaners aren't likely to help at all in removing registry leftovers, unless they are of certain types..

Just want to add. I'm back to using Comodo Firewall with AOL AVS, and have had no problems and no slow downs. CPF is far and above better than any Firewall I've used, (see my previous post) especially now with it's last version. Although I may in the future change AV's, I won't be changing my Firewall. Oh and to rpsgc. There is nothing wrong with Avast, but I just really like AVS and Antivir. I have used and liked Avast in the past and believe it is a very good AV. Take care, and sorry for the late reply.

I agree that Comodo is an excellent firewall.
And it updated to version 2.3.6.81 within the last few days.

It's great that it is free, but it is actually worth paying for, it is that good.

One question....is Comodo version available now a final release, or is it still in beta?

Comodo is Final, but there can be some beta versions available ahead of the next final version.

I have been using COMODO for a few weeks, after uninstalling ZoneAlarm. The difference was obvious immediately. My bootup and shutdown times have been cut in half, and applications are responding crisply. I did the automatic set up and made one or two options, then it took over and I don't even know it's there except for the occasional pop up. I put it in the learning mode for a week or so and it has learned my apps so I don't constantly get pop ups.
I love it.

I installed Comodo about a month ago, and think it's great. Set it and forget it.

Agree wholeheartedly.
I just switched from Sunbelt Kerio 3 weeks ago, and have been blown away by Comodo's performance, low memory usage, and low CPU -- especially with web-based streaming media, such as Pandora.
Comodo (version 2.3.6.81 on WinXP Pro SP2) is simply amazing!
It's been perfectly compatible with all my Internet applications, including AVG, PeerGuardian, Opera, Trillian, and Outlook Express -- all running in concert at the same time, on a battery-powered laptop.
Of course, the minimal number of UI and configuration options may be a turn-off to some newbies, who may expect more. But personally, network security and performance are my key concerns for a personal firewall choice.
Oh yeah, I did disable some of Comodo's advanced application behavior anaysis features on my software testing/development/debugging box. But the fact that Comodo can and does monitor these process behaviors (and remains responsive), is even more amazing.
Great job Comodo. Keep up the excellent work!

CPF 2.4 Beta got Buffer Overlow Detection and it is/will be translated.
CPF 3.0 will get sandbox abilities, but it will not be out for a few months.

Since the last post was November 2006, I thought I would post an update. Comodo 2.4 is still a great FW, and the version 3 has been released. I upgraded to version 3 and found it to be complicated and full of bugs, to the point that I had to retreat back to v2.4. Slowly they removed the bugs I'm told, but the fact still remains that it is too complicated for the average user. In the mean time as I surfed the Wilders Security Forums, I was informed of a FW geared to the average user named Online Armor. I checked it out and installed the trial version. I found it to be very user friendly and well engineered. After a month I bought the paid version, even though they offer a slightly impaired Free version, and have grown to love it. The other day they released a new upgrade which is really great. Check out the web sight and see if you like it.
