I want to use Antivir alongwith AVG. Therefore I want to install antivir for scanning purposes only. Is it possible to install it without Resident Guard ??

Howdy,
The easiest thing to do is just deactivate the guard by clicking on the umbrella and then deactivate it. At lerast it will be there in case AVG doesn't want to work for you. _________________ "Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat."

Yes it is. Select the custom install and then uncheck the guard box.

Just be aware that there may still be conflicts. In using AVG with another AV on two different occasions all seemed well until one day I could not access my email. When I removed AVG it was OK.
On both occasions I was using AVG as a scanner and did not have it active.

I have AntiVir running without the resident guard and am using Kaspersky as the primary AV. No problems at all. Not only does AntiVir work on demand or check individual files from the right click menu, I have it scheduled to scan once each week (Kaspersky scans daily). My only errors have been in downloading updates which on the Free version of AntiVir has to be done from a very busy server.
