|
|
Suggestions:
1) Show clearly when Mailwasher has finished deleting and processing spam e-mails
and/or
2) Delay calling the e-mail client until Mailwasher has finished processing the e-mails. (this could be turned on or off via a parameter that the user could set)
Why I am suggesting the above: I had my e-mail client set to receive e-mails automatically every 10 minutes. When I have asked Mailwasher Pro to process e-mails, it automatically starts the e-mail client. However, I find that the spam I thought Mailwasher Pro had deleted is still received. My workaround has been to turn off the automatic receipt of e-mail within the e-mail client, and then to manually initiate the receiving of e-mail after about a minute. However, there are no clues within Mailwasher about when the right time is to initiate sending and receiving of e-mail, except to terminate Mailwasher itself, and wait for the message about "Mailwasher is still updating your training database etc..." to stop displaying when the application closes.

The way you are implementing MW is not the way we suggest it should be used.
You should turn off auto check for mail in your email client altogether, as you should be using MW to check for mail, not your email client, otherwise emails will get downloaded to your email client before MW has a chance to display them.
After you have checked email messages in MW for delete etc, you then click Process Mail. Once the processing is finished, your email client will open. This indicates the MW has finished processing all displayed email.
If you have spent some time marking your emails in MW, then it is advisable to do another quick Check Mail in MW, to ensure no spam has arrived in the interim.
Check the Program Help > How does MW work? for a guide.

What Wolfpack is really looking for is the MWP Proxy version. How is that project progressing?

Another improvement for post processing could be the option to automatically clear the message list.

And another improvement would be to (optionally) perform an additional check mail following processing (might be possible to combine the 2 as MW will be logging into mail accounts to perform deletions etc. - can check if any new messages are there while it's in there..?).
It could then (again optionally) suspend the launching of the e-mail program if any new messages have arrived on the follow-up check mail..
The way I use MW is to do the above manually - process mail, then immediately click check mail again - only if the check mail then completes with no new e-mails arriving will I click Mail Program (which opens/focuses Outlook and sends a F9 to initiate a Send/Receive to reduce any delay).. _________________ Matt

|

On a similar note, I'd like to see the option (only as an option) of automatically reconnecting when the connection is abnormally terminated (typically with the well-known "connection intentionally closed" error).
This happens to me all the time (and to a lot of people, as you can see in these forums) and seems unconnected either to my configuration or malformed emails. The solution is to repeatedly press "check mail" until the last message is downloaded. Since I leave Mailwasher unattended most of the time, I'd like to see Mailwasher automatically reconnect and then execute any "automatic deletion" filters as needed.
As things stand, abnormal termination means that automatic deletion doesn't happen. _________________ "I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints"--Billy Joel

Please, please, please implement this! When I click "process mail", my mail client pops up and I get my mail. The list that stays on the screen in MailWasher is not only out of date, it is actually incorrect (I don't leave mail on the server).
I usually have MailWasher on my second monitor so that whenever it automatically checks for email I immediately see if there is something urgent that demands my attention. As a manager I live and die through constant communication with others, thus email is critical. (Which means that your product is one of the first I reinstall whenever I rebuild my hard drive. Thanks for a great product!) _________________ AlphaPatriot.com
