I run Kaspersky Antivirus 6 and haven't had problems with any of the CastleCops site, or other non-malicious ones either Smile What exact URL are you visiting, what occurs when you try to visit with protection enabled, and what do Kaspersky's logs say is happening?

i just wanted Paul to know about what i experienced after installing the tool.

I use KIS 6.0 full package and have no problem accessing CastleCops web pages. Perhaps the KAV settings were set too high. I have mine tweaked to be a little higher than "recommended", but did that 1 setting at a time, until I found out which one interferred with things. For example, using AOL 9.0 VR, I have to put AOL topspeed in the KIS Trusted Zone and set NOT to scan network traffic. Otherwise images don't display properly. Or perhaps use the "streaming" scan on the web AV instead of the "buffering" scan (full signatures).

If you happen to reinstall KAV, play around with the settings. Many folks get too enthousiastic about KAV and crank it up too high too soon. It's better to start with Basic protection and then tweak it to meet your needs.

Also could have been a KAV versus firewall problem. Don't know what firewall you're using, but KAV does not play well with some of them. Their forums have more info about that. The KAV web AV shield uses a proxy server, so it would need full rights to do that.

i couldn't even get registered at their forum.

i put all the old stuff back on my system this morning.

thank you for your post and i hope it will help someone else with the same issues.

i just want the programs to be easy to use so i don't have to supervise them and hold their hands and give them guidance as they run.

i had taken the old ad aware se off the machine and installed the new one, but it was a pain in the neck too.
so i have a small partition that i save all old downloads on and re-installed ad aware se this morning too.

I feel your pain! I have gotten rid of several software programs that were just too much trouble with their "upgraded" version.

I saw a post at another forum yesterday that summed up the way I feel in general, nowadays:
(paraphrased) -
"Windows XP user here,
Vista ready software causes problems for XP users.
I don't need no stinkin' Vista!"

LOL
