This problem was really annoying me as my laptop is presently used a lot by 2 people so I reverted to ver 4.3.635. So far it seems not to have this bug.

As I mentioned, there is a 1-2 minutes needlework to help the situation (but unfortunately not to correct the problem, it's just an avoidance procedure):

You should login as an administrator (by switching, which still works), and then you have two choices:

1. If you are sure, that all the other users have already saved their data, and there is nothing lost, then you can shut down the computer, after answering positively the related question.

2. If you prefer to do some more (but safer) job, then
a. you may stop the sunbelt firewall service (what you can find among the services), because an administrator can do it
b. logoff from administrator
c,d, ...zzzzz Wink : swith to the other still logged users, and logoff them one by one, at the last one I think you even shut down the pc.

Smile

Thats the problem - the system will not shut down. When I click on "Turn Off" nothing happens. The system just goes back to the normal Desktop. I have to power off using the power button.
I will stay with ver 4.3.635 & see if any new version fixes this problem otherwise its a new firewall for me - maybe Comodo Crying or Very sad

Hm... even, if you are an administrator and stopped the sunbelt firewall service? Well, your machine behaves the other way as mine, again Shocked .

I haven't tried stopping the Sunbelt firewall service but I'm not interested in a work-around. When I press "Turn Off Computer" I expect the system to shut down like it always has. If Sunbelt Firewall stops my system from shutting down & they haven't been able to fix it yet then its time to change. Pity, I really like SPF AND my subcsription has another 8 months to run. Crying or Very sad

That's also a problem for me.. and it shows up for all the versions from 4.3.635 to 4.5.916

Sunbelt firewall prevents my computer from loggging off and sutting down properly.

in the debug.log it says:
[19/May/2007 08:28:51] Config.cpp: [-1] GUI #10: CShutdownMonitor::WindowProc: *** WM_ENDSESSION received.

and then the firewall just ignores it Smile

At the same time, the hybernation works just fine.

Yes. I'm still having problems shutting down with 4.3.635. Maybe I'll go back to 4.3.268 & see if that shuts down OK. Quite funny actually, usually one upgrades to the latest version to fix a bug but we have to go backwards. Laughing

in my computer, it went away after some messing up with installation/desinsallation of other programs...

must be some subtle interference with other drivers...

To keep me going until I can find a better firewall I have gone back to 4.3.268. Seems a lot better at handling 2 users, at least the PC shuts down without having to stop SPF first. Thats the end of SPF for me. It was a waste of money renewing my subscription. Sunbelt just don't have the ability to produce a better firewall, 4.5.916 seems worse than any previous version.

Thank you for contacting Sunbelt Software.

This is a known issue, and we are hopeing to fix this problem in a
release some time this summer, tho I don't have a exact release date. If
you are able to get around this program with a prior version, or by
stoping the process then I would suggest continue doing so untill we are
able to resolve this issue.
