Sad I am trying to upload an avatar URL that I saved on Photobucket:

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n173/malik1955/Spiderman.gif

When I try to upload I get an error that the file is not .gif, .jpeg, etc - but it is a .gif file. Can someone help please?

The one from my PC is to large, I got a size error when I tried to upload it directly that's why I tried to use Photobucket, but here it is anyway.

I think the animated gif problem is still here - it appears only the first frame gets uploaded.

Photobucket shows a file size of 3.98 KB. This one is 1.8KB

blacklupine, thanx for the tool. I did get the avatar to the right size and uploaded, but now it's not animated anymore. Any ideas?

Your welcome glad I could help.

As Mister2 says there is a animated gif problem that only the first frame gets uploaded.

Regards.

OK, I was just wondering since I've seen animation on some other members avatars. Maybe they're not .gif. Thanx again. Cool

There is a thread relating to this behaviour somewhere but I can't find it again. The spinning molecule beneath my uname is a gif but I can't remember what is different about it.

It was uploaded before the restriction took place.

Hi nikef, and Welcome to CC Very Happy

Thanks - I've never tried uploading a large avatar so it's handy to know the type of error it would generate.

You could always ask Paul to adjust the avatar size restrictions, but he probably won't do it, it will screw up the forum pages if he makes it too large.
