Just talked to the Doctor at the Cancer Center a little while ago. CAT scan I had on Monday came back "not good". Seems my {colon} cancer has spread to lymph nodes near the lungs, and a spot on the liver. Since last Tuesday, my leg has blown up again, this time, it's painful in my calf in my right leg. I have to do the Quaisimodo shuffle to walk.

So I asked the Doc if I have "limited time". He says, "yes". Sad
Of course, he doesn't know how long. Any more chemo would not help, seems I've exhausted all options.
Crying or Very sad

Guess I can finally give up on finding a job, for real. Crying or Very sad Sad

Goodness, what is there to say in circumstances like this? Find happiness where you can, console with family and friends, seek counseling from a qualified professional or minister if you are religious, and try to do all those things you always wanted to do, but never did. And, know that our hopes will be with you.

Thanks. I haven't told Mom yet, she worries so much. she's the true essence of the word, Mother. My sister told me to NOT tell her, she should probably be there with me when we tell her.

I already called a local cancer place, called "The Gathering Center", which offers support groups every Wednesday. Sounds like an inconvienent time, and just Walking is a chore, now. But I suppose I'll have to drag my rear out of the house one night to go check them out. They ARE only about 15 minutes away. Just nut used to driving at night anymore, but I can still do it.

That's awful.

It may not be of much practical help but be assured you are in my thoughts.
I hope it will be of some comfort to know that a lot of people here will be thinking of you.

As domo wrote in his post above, we care on this forum.

we share good and bad news. we rejoice with good ones and lament the bad news. In either case, if it is a small consolation, you are not alone. Never alone.

What can I say...

I'm probably one of the younger ones around here, can't say that for sure, and that would be the most horrible thing for me to happen. Sound like a true nightmare!

Enjoy the 'limited time' you still have, please, because life can be so nice! You're in my thoughts!

I know it looks hopeless right now, but you can do your best and do very well. I had a serious illness some time ago. Doctors can be wrong. They're not infallible. Go see a different one and get a 2nd and even a 3rd, 4th or 5th opinion. I kept looking until I found one who gave me hope. I liked his attitude. He was frankly honest but had a great beside manner. We beat it together. Family and friends are important too. Laughter helps. My doctor gave me a special prescription for while I was bedridden. I watched every funny movie I could get my hands on. Laughter really, really hurt, but it was a good kind of pain. It helped keep my spirits up. Now I'm alive and walking again. You can do it too. Thumbs Up

So sorry to hear the news. There are probably very few of us in my age group (50+) who haven't gone through a similar ordeal with a family member or close friend. It never gets any easier to hear and it never gets any easier to try and provide words that will console. The best that we can do is to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

It never ceases to amaze me, the sense of community that is shared among so many people who have probably never met each other in person. There are members of every ethnic and religious denomination as well as every geographical location of the globe, yet none of that matters when one of our community is in trouble.

If your time is indeed limited, may you have the fortune to spend that surrounded by your family and those who you love.

Wow, Oyle, I am very sorry to hear this! I recall your friendly posts around here time to time. I really, really hope the doctor is incorrect. Prince_Serendip has some very sage advice in his post above. I am praying for your well being.

Oh, Oyle. Sad I am very saddened by hearing this news. If you don't mind, I will say a prayer for you.

Although this may sound very morose and in poor taste, it is certainly not meant that way. I have heard that many people, when receiving similar reports, spend their remaining time living life to its' utmost fullest and can then move onto the everlasting in peace.

I wish this for you, Oyle.

I am so sorry to hear your news.

I will only offer that "no cure" doesn't mean "nothing can be done." The leg pain may be a treatable problem like a blood clot. And do share with people around you to the extent they are capable. They can offer you support, but you can offer them so much of the wisdom you will gain as you go through life from here on.
