Okay I have a Windows Me and my brother has a Windows Xp.
He has some software that he wants to install on his computer, but for some reason, the cd-rom on his PC doesnt read CDs/disc - this is a problem that we're currently lookin into, but in the mean time we're trying some other alternatives.
Even though he can't install software from a disc, he can still install software that he downloaded from the internet.
The software isnt compatiable with WinMe but what I wanna do is copy all of the files from the disc using my computer to a specific folder, so that way I can zip the folder up and send it to his computer via download link, hopefully finally allowing him to download it.
So I need to know if theres a way I can copy the files from to a specific folder?

Hi Crunkadelic,
Try this:
- Insert the disk into your CD player. Hold the Shift key down and close the CD tray. Hold the Shift key until the light goes out on your CD player. (This will prevent the software trying to install on your system)
- Open My Computer, right click on your CD Drive and choose Explore (again, this is to stop the program installing)
- Press Ctrl + A (both together) to select all the files and folders on the CD. Release both keys
- Press Ctrl + C to copy the contents of the CD. Release both keys
- In My Computer, navigate to your C: drive, right click on a blank part of the window and select New > Folder. Name the folder whatever you like and press Enter.
- Open the folder (double click it) and press Ctrl + V to copy the CD contents to the folder
- Zip the folder up and transfer to the other system.
This is not a guaranteed cure - depending on the way the installation program is written you may find it keeps looking to the CD drive for the files needed to install. _________________ Never stop learning
