well, it's supposed to double each time for each ranking promotion. So, say it's 150 to be Y it then is 300 to become x. That's the idea, though it doesn't quite work like that, since captain is 300 though major is 700. Therefore, I have no idea of the formula for Colonel or General. But if I said a 'lot' for each new rank, I'd be pretty much right

Except we have a different symbol for general, we've got that little star thing going on. Mind you, on that link the general symbol looks more like an emblem for the Olypmics. You'd think there'd be a really cool one for general, skull and crossbones, or crossed swords would be good.

Actually in the real military, a Major (Lt. Cdr. in the Navy) gets a Gold Oak Leaf;
a Lt. Col. (Cdr. in the Navy) gets a Silver Oak Leaf;
a Col. (Capt. in the Navy) gets a Silver Bird;
and a Brig. General (Comm./RADM-Lower) gets one Silver Star.
[Since I was just an E-6 grunt, I never had to worry about any of that though!] _________________ TF-116 Gamewarden (PBRs) RivRon 59 -- 'Nam '69

Cool - we have Petty Officer First Class MekongDelta69 on board. How long did it take to get to E-6 (5-6 years?)

No - 3 1/2 (incl. one of those 'battlefield' promos - whoop-de-doo - B.F.D.).
They wanted me to extend for a short time (with bonus), because you
(technically) couldn't be an E-6 until you put in 4 yrs. active.
Looking at your icon and knowing that I was a PO1 (RM1), I'm going to
guess and say you were an LCDR?

Sorry Paul -- all I meant by that was someone was asking me about
rankings at the time, so I just happened to bump up the thread,
so he could find it easier!
