Thank you to the new SIRT volunteers. As you can see from the SIRT Handled queue a dedicated band of people is ploughing through the junk mail from the top echelon of spammers and putting together plenty of evidence . . Evidence that will prove useful at indictment time.

If you want to volunteer to be a SIRT handler, this is what you need to know.

SIRT handlers prepare evidence for law enforcement.
Be prepared to provide references.

Handlers will have access to a pre-written training guide, and to one-on-one training over an audio link.

A SIRT Handlers forum is available for Questions and Answers, and there are enough skilled and trained handlers that you will be sure to have assistance in the learning phase.

Handlers should have a basic knowledge of the concepts of Registrars, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), domain names, IP addresses, and spam brands.

Experience with any spam reporting tools (Spamcop, Complainterator etc) would be an advantage in getting familiar with the methods used.
