I just edited a file within the JAR file and now have the correct address in it and had no problems with losing the Knujon button in Thunderbird. I did the following:
- located the knujon.jar file and opened it with WINZIP, NOT a text editor
- edited the "knujon.js" file email address with a text editor and saved that file
- saved the archive (in WINZIP)
A lot easier than I thought it would be after reading what others posted here how they did it.

Very clever - I didn't think of that...
However, with the new 0.3 extension there is no longer a need to edit source files. You can add your individual reporting address via the extension's Options.

This might be an ignorant question, but I have the Knujon extension installed fine, but when I checked to see if the message had been attached properly, all that is attached is what seems to be a blank, non-associated file titled "Attached Message". Is this correct behavior, or what?
The text insert in the e-mail that is created when I clicked on the "KnujOn" button says that one message is attached, but I'm unable to view it as I would a normal, properly attached e-mail.

That's normal -- it's actually a feature that you don't see the message content in-line, because if you were forwarding a few hundred messages that would be a disaster to display.
I may look into tweaking the handling a bit so that the original subject of the spam is shown in the attachments list, so people don't worry about it....
By the way, an easy way to test is to send the email to yourself instead, then open it when it arrives. It has been working reliably for a while now, though, so you needn't bother except out of curiosity.

I only came across KnujOn and the TBird plugin to supplement it today and I'm curious. I hope your project works in tackling spam globally...
Background:
I get a *lot* of spam to my various accounts (both personal and old) and between my manual marking as junk and my other junk filter controls I end up with a multiple junk folders with thousands in each every week.
All my email is stored remotely and I connect via IMAP (why doesn't everyone??). TBird 1.5 branch doesn't handle very large deletions very well (ie. it doesn't properly break them down into multiple smaller deletion commands). Therefore I have my own script to do this on my remote mail server.
As there is quite a lot to handle and I don't look at it every day, running the KnujOn extension is slow and painful (when you consider all the emails you have to create and then send). Thinking about it, I could quite easily output these emails to text files (server side) and zip em up for manual upload. But I think this defeats the point of having a nice client-side addon.
My question:
Could you please set an option in the plugin to 'Dump Junk to zip' instead of emailing them off?

@secondwheel: as almost expected, the extension does no longer work with Thunderbird 2.0.0.0 Release Candidate 1.
However, instead of pestering you to support each and every beta or RC release, I have reverted back to 1.5.0.10 until the final release of TB 2.0.0.0.
Thank you again for a very useful tool!

I keep pestering the Mozilla folks for a way to update JUST the supported version number (when no code changes are required) and skip the slow review process. For now, no such luck.
Anyway, version 0.31 (supports 2.0.0.*) will be available automatically... when Mozilla gets around to reviewing it, or you can download it directly from me, here:

Apologies for the inconvenience... hopefully they'll come up with a better system soon.

For those who use the extension to report downloaded junk from Gmail, FreePOPs 0.2.2 is now available with minor fixes: http://www.freepops.org/en/

Hello,
I'm trying to download the spam folder from gmail with FreePOPs-0.2.4-openssl, but with no success.
My OS is: Windows XP SP2.
Settings I used (as members in this forum used): port 2000, pop server: localhost, no secure connection, user: regs123@gmail.com?folder=spam, also opened port 2000 in my router in case needed.
Tested with the following email clients: ThunderBird v2.0.0.0, ThunderBird v1.5.0.9, and Outlook 2007.
I'm using FreePOPs-0.2.4-openssl, and also installed freepopsservice.exe as a service (in DOS: freepopsservice install). Also, freepopsd.exe was loaded before receiving any emails (and yes, gmail.lua is in the LUA directory).
But with both email clients (Outlook 07 & TB 1.5.0.9) when I press "Receive email" button, I am asked for password, and when entering the password, I get: "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail localhost responded: AUTH FAILED".
- FreePops doesn't do its job for some reason
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks

I've started using FreePops instead of YPops because it can retrieve both yahoo and gmail spam from the spam folders.
I am able to retrieve gmail spam with Thunderbird 2.0.0.0.
I recommend you ask your question in the freepops English forum.
You should probably have the relevant sections of your log files ready to post as well (i.e. stderr.txt, log.txt).
