I am from Missouri and I think I am the only person in the state that is not leaning to the far right politically. Laughing

The fact that my ideals perturb members of the right and members of the left indicates that I am looking at things the right way. Very Happy

A ray is a series of points in perfect alignment whose range is limited in one direction. A line is a series of points in perfect alignment whose range is not limited in either direction. A segment is a series of points in perfect alignment whose range is limited in both directions. that is my understanding anyway.

P.S: When I say "...a series of points in perfect alignment..." I mean as such created by the intersection of two planes.

Hi guys,

I thought a ray was:
a sea creature of the manta or sting variety;
a truncated raymond, rayburn or raynard;
the note betwixt "doh" and "me";
the second syllable in a hearty cheer.

A Ray Poem
Most fishermen are like Ray,
Who fish by night or by day.
The wife shoots them a look,
Cos she's waiting to cook,
The big one that just got away.

Cheers,
enegue

How can you conclude that? How many members of the right did you perturb? How many members of the left? You certainly have a flair for generalisation.

Cheers,
enegue

Why do you keep asking me for numerical representations of my categorizations? If you must know, I suppose I perturb more members of the right than members of the left. There is a saying that I have heard in regard to judges. The saying goes something like this, "when both the counsel for the prosecution and the counsel for the defense meet in my chambers I try to make sure that neither of them leave happy, and this ensures me that I have made the right decision". I was generalizing for the sake of levity, by the way. I guess I should have made that more obvious. Sorry, if I have unintentionally offended you. Wink

Just trying to help you consider whether your generalisations are based on sufficient evidence.

Quote:
"when both the counsel for the prosecution and the counsel for the defense meet in my chambers I try to make sure that neither of them leave happy, and this ensures me that I have made the right decision"
Is this wisdom? Using unhappiness as the measure of correctness sounds perverted to me.

Cheers,
enegue

No it is not inherently wise. It does demonstrate a lack of bias. This is my, and hopefully the judge's, goal. Wink

Keep in mind that when I say, "...neither of them leave happy...", I mean that neither party leaves with the impression that the judge has acted in a biased manner partial to either counselor.

A lack of happiness does not inherently imply the presence of unhappiness. Just as a lack of pleasure does not imply the presence of pain.

An why is it that you people, yes that is me generalizing again, always attach to me the stigma of perversion?

That is more levity in regard to generalization, by the way. However, I am serious when I inquire in regard to your dubbing me a pervert. Wink

The use of the word "perverted" was directed at the quote you gave, not at you. The intended meaning was "twisted thinking", rather than "immoral behaviour". I don't think you will find any post of mine where I have suggested you were "perverted". Even during our discussions on other topics, I have been careful not to generalise and apply arbitrary labels, which you yourself acknowledged in a PS, here: ice-nines response to enegues last post

Cheers,
