To the tune of "God Rest ye merry Gentlman."

God rest ye poor small business man
who've managed to survive.
Be glad in this economy
that you are still alive.
Give shouts of joy at Christmas time
when folks who buy appear.
There's a chance you'll break even for the year,
for the whole year.
There's a chance that you'll break even for the year.

How's that for a Christmas tune. My brother and I used to sing it at our family Christmas party when we were teenager. We got it from a copy of Mad Magazine.

Hey. Let's start a band. Tho I'm afraid my Christmas tunes tend towards "Blue Christmas" and "Please Come Home for Christmas". Tho I do do a nice fingerpicked "Ave Maria" a la Chet Atkins. (Don't spread it around). Best to all. I'm Getting kicked off the terminal at the library now.

LOL Well you definately don't want me! I don't play an instrament and I am tone deaf. You should hear a guitar after I "tune" it. It send cats running for cover and starts dogs howling.

Oh-ho-ho...don't be so sure...heart is EVERYTHING...I'm not the greatest player...but can sing a bit...I have an electronic tuner for the guitar... and I am sure you can either shake your booty, or lead the band! Smile

Will give Mankato a tamborine and keep the mic turned down! Smile

I'm actually a pretty good guitar player but I have eclectic taste plus I only play by ear which means that someone else will have to play it first.

I'm in the process of learning to play the mandolin too but this is not what I would call a "going concern".

Wow, ZZ...great idea...I am sure Mankato can handle a tamborine...and I bet you it won't be long before we can actually turn his mic up... Laughing ...
I am the same in that...if someone else takes the lead vocal, (whether or not I've ever heard the song before) I can throw in a decent harmony...and actually sound like I know the song...it's like the music is out there in the ether...and we tap into it....awoooooohoooooooo..... Cool
I would love to learn the squeeze box myself...or I guess it's called the accordion...anyone know how difficult an instrument this is to learn?

I've known a few people that played it, CG. They are also piano players. One of them told me that learning to play it after learning piano was not bad except for the part where you have to pat your head while rubbing your belly. wacko
I have thought that I might learn the piano since my wife and both of my kids play. Seems like a lot of trouble, all that note reading, I mean. I've always liked the sound of strings but used to play the trumpet and can play the whistle a little. These are OK but I always return to strings. I've tried the violin but I think that I'm too old to twist myself up like that. I really need a cello or bass. I wouldn't have to contort myself so much for those. I haven't heard much bluegrass on a cello but somebody needs to try it. Laughing

I'm sure glad that someone else will sing since I don't do that where anyone can hear. In fact I'm not real big on playing what I'm good at for others. My wife always tells me that it sounds good but I know where the mistakes are. Embarassed It makes me very unsure of myself. Music seems to be one of God's gifts to me but I have a hard time using it.
