Arrggh!
Now the Prevx2 marketing has changed, I can't seem to download the software from anywhere. There's no download link - other than to buy it again!
What do users do if they need to download it again? _________________ Windows Vista 32bit Business SP1 | MS ISA 2004 Firewall | Nod32 v2.70.32 | Prevx2 v1.0.2 build 127 | SpywareBlaster v4.1 | Firefox v3.01

That's a very good question. Who on Earth would buy software w/o trialing it first? Now it seems trial won't be possible as I too can not find download link from prevx website anymore?
Edit: The dl link is hidden behind Support pages. Wonder what's the logic behind this?

my hope was that they would be a stand-up organization and say they have discontinued the unique trial system, and instead are allowing folks to sample Prevx2 via CSI. what the hell was i thinking?!
i must come to the conclusion that this is simply one arrogant group of people, who seem to feel that they have no responsibility for providing information to the public. they answer what they want, when they want. there is no transparency to this organization at all. they want us to be involved vise ve this forum and their blog, but strictly on their terms.
my hope is that some organization implements the Prevx concept, but executes with high-touch as well as high-tech. Prevx would then epiphany or perish. as it stands now, they are the only game in town.

IMHO CSI hardly qualifies as proper sample of the actual PrevX software. After all, it's just a scanner, without any drivers etc. features from the PrevX so one can not fully judge how it would effect one's system.

my guess is that CSI is the new trial. and a poor substitute it is for the whole Prevx2. if their version of trial software proved burdensome, they could have simply coded in a hard timer. 30 days....period, whether Prevx2 found malware on your system or not.....like nearly everyother security vendor. instead it appears they are taking the Boclean approach...buy it because we say it's good. to a degree that worked with Boclean because they had generated such strong public good-will, people did buy it without trialing it. that is not going to be the case with Prevx2.
these Prevx folks are obviously brillant, and taken on an individual basis, very likeable. assembled as an organization, they pull the most boneheaded customer-facing manuvors of any company i have been a customer of. it's amazing, and it's not 'the mirrors'.

Hi Biscuity,
Clicking the "Downloads" link on the front page (http://www.prevx.com) or from the Prevx 2.0 product description page (http://www.prevx.com/antimalware.asp) takes you to the download page http://info.prevx.com/downloadprevx2.asp.
The download page has the direct links to download the latest installers for Prevx CSI and Prevx 2.0.
There is also a link to download from your Support page.
Regards,
Darren

Hi,
Have to agree that they should have gone to a 15 or 30 day trial like most other vendors. Also, if you have a look at that download link it is for Bld 116. Only just been updated to 112 here. Hopefully that will fix a few more bugs!

Have to admit that the downloads link is hidden pretty well amongst those other links in the small bar there At least when it comes to me, the 'Buy now' button captures all the attention. Perhaps adding a larger download button in the actual page would help? Mhhhh, i just downloaded ver. 116 and installed it on a test PC.
It allowed me to perform a "temporary activation".
Visually speaking , it's exactly the same as the previous version with unlimited license till first malware.
The installation had a warning, though, that this "temporary activation" would result in a smaller degree of protection than the purchased one.
Any info about the protection level comparison between the temporary activated and the purchased one?
Best Regards

Temporary Activation replaces Trial Activation for new Users.
Any user who previously installed a Trial of Prevx 2.0 on their PC will continue to receive the benefits of that previous trial license - that is free use until 30 days after they first have Malware detected on their PC - even if they uninstall and reinstall. This means that for all existing customers, whether trial or paid, there is NO CHANGE. We have simply changed the description from Trial to Temporary Activation.
For completely new customers, that is those that have never installed Prevx 2.0 on their PC, Temporary Activation has one restriction - it will not perform malware cleanup/removal - all other protected features are active. It will detect malware and will block malware execution, but it will not cleanup malware that is already on the PC. In order to cleanup/remove malware from your PC with Prevx 2.0, a paid-for cleanup license is required. This only effects NEW customers.
In summary:
Existing Customers
Trial: Detects, Blocks and Cleans malware until 30 days after first infection.
Expired Trial: Detects only - no blocking or cleanup.
Paid: Detects, Block and cleans malware during license period.
Exired License: Detects and Blocks only
New Customers:
Temporary Activation: Detects and Blocks only - no cleanup.
Paid: Detects, Blocks and Cleans malware during license period.
Expired License: Detects and Blocks only - no cleanup.

Darren,
Maybe getting a bit off topic here, but if I download the latest build 116, SHUTDOWN Prevx and then install bld 116 over the top of 112 so to speak, is that an OK thing to do? Not likely to cause any problems? It would be so much easier than uninstall / re-install and the last update started automatically when I was doing something else. A bit inconvenient.

Should work just fine.
I've just done the very same thing myself on one of my development boxes.

what strikes me as pretty pathetic, is that they seem to see nothing wrong with this "mums until someone begs for information" approach. what about the people that don't frequent this board? would it not have been far simpler to provide this same information on the Prevx website, and avoid the confusion and groundless speculation? am i being unreasonable? am i expecting too much?
i have a seperate thread where i inquired about the revised Prevx2 rootkit scanner. the post has been sitting there for two days now...unanswered. i'm fairly certain they have seen the post, but for some unfathomable reason choose not acknowledge it and answer my questions.
the information concerning the rootkit scanner came from Prevx...so i am not speculating about it. while i don't recall the source, ie, did i read about it on Wilders, on the blog, was it through a support ticket, or even brought up here, i don't remember, but the topic does exist, and originated from Prevx.
is it unreasonable to want to know if this revised rootkit scanner is implemented? is it outside the 'need to know' for an end-user to want to know how this new rootkit scanner is improved over the previous version? or what to expect from it operationally? how does it serve Prevx to leave end-users twisting in the wind with unanswered questions?
for me dealing with Prevx is a mixed bag. product wise, i believe Prevx2 is brillant, troublesome at times, but an avante-garde piece of security software. individually, Ghiser, Stubbs, Notok (though have not heard from him in a long while), are helpful, engaging, and generally very likeable. as an organization Prevx can be thick as a brick.
i often wonder if Mr. Prevx is aware of the culture his company has fermented.

Ian, I just did that 3 minutes ago and its running fine, only visible difference is the "Build 116 Pro" in the lower lh corner. Transition went very smooth and installation was short. _________________ Old Pat
