I have noticed the term "Folding@Home" and a group associated with it. Just what is it, etc.?

I don't know the details, but it's one of the BOINC projects, like SETI@home

Hi BigFelix,
I'm glad you asked. Notice the "Green Spinny Thingy" under my uname? That is the coveted emblem of the Team CastleCops Distributed Computing Folding@Home Team. One of many scientific ventures using the unused computing power of friends of CastleCops.

All of Team CastleCops Distributed Computing forums are closed right now, but that doesn't mean that we aren't still folding away for the good causes. We are hoping that one day they will be open again.

Oh! Of course I've heard of this project. To me, the "green spinny thing", as you put it, always looked like the 3-D model of a molecule (with all of the atoms colored green). And, by golly, it is! Neat, cool, rad ...

Exactly! "Green Spinny Thingy" is the official scientific name for that molecule.
