Apparently 3.1.0 still hasn't fixed this one: The (C)lear message list function pops up a confirmation dialog. Even worse, the default in that dialog is (N)o. The first few times I did this, that confirmation process had me convinced I must be about to do something horrible, like erase all the messages from the server(s). But no, this otherwise useful function merely clears the message list on my local screen.
I use this all the time, and having to do two more mouse operations or keystrokes just to clear my screen is supremely annoying. Clearing the local display does ***NOT*** require two confirmation steps! "Are you sure?" "Are you really sure?" Are you really really really sure?" This is not a destructive operation in any way, and providing two opportunities to back out of it is an idea straight from the department of redundancy department.
If anyone can think if even the most remote reason to have this unnecessary caution, then at least make it an option that can be turned off.

Will consider this, though it's not something that we felt has been requested enough to be a justified change.
I use the same feature very often and once you get into the habit the pressing [C] then [Y] then there is no problem.

FWIW:
Considering that the "hot" key for this is a plain "C", I would have to vote for keeping the one "Are you sure?" prompt.
If there were no hotkey, thus requiring either Alt+E,C or a mouse click to invoke the command, then I would say ditch the confirmation.
A "Prompts" tab in the Options dialog, with checkboxes for the various commands, is common in many programs, and might be the best choice to accomodate both Novice and Advanced users.

I guess I can agree that the lone (C) keystroke might be a little too easy to do. I would probably complain if the message list went blank after mistakenly hitting the wrong key. But changing it to ALt+C or something else makes more sense.
You are both still fixated on the bizarre concept that I have to be multiply protected from the act of clearing a displayed list. I'm not deleting any mail, changing any options, writing anything to a config file, ..... nothing permanent. Just clearing a list on my display. The fact that you have made the default action (N)o indicates that someone had a bad experience with clearing their display one day (???) or things just work differently in the Southern Hemisphere.
Another aspect to this issue: MailWasher is a generally mouse-centric program in normal use (after setup and so on). The C/Y combination isn't so bad, if you're already entering keyboard characters. But since most everything happens with the mouse, if I right click then select (C)lear (or click Email/Clear), I don't want to have to __then__ go to the keyboard to complete the action. Especially with something as B9 as removing characters from my local screen.
Sure, it's a fine point. But so is "Minimize MailWasher when [X] clicked". There are lots of more important issues on the list ahead of this one (like fixing the whole new mail notification function...). The bigger point is that programs are more user-friendly when they behave in standard and consistent ways. If you can cite a single other mainstream program that's this paranoid about clearing a displayed list, then maybe you have a point.

I too would like an easier way to clear, preferably a toolbar icon. with multiple e-mail accounts i use clear rather often and the extra steps are annoying. At least make Yes the default on enter instead of No.
