Certain other virus scanners such as Avast and ClamAv are famous for false alarms. I found an up to date FreeAVG better than an equally up to date Norton at dealling with realand serious infections.

Have you tried scanning your machine with another AV? You might be surprised how many nasties would be discovered (clients'' personal experience)
