At one time, Symantec's products were the standard bearer in the security community. That was 4 years and several dollars ago. Acknowledging their brand name as the most popular selling, the incentive to improve their products has waned.

One finds that the CA AV software, AntiVir, and the one from Australia, NOD 32, outperforms this. The time it requires for NAV to scan's one computer is stodgy and long. This should be addressed in future versions.
