Password safe was originally developed by Bruce Schneier CTO of Counterpane Labs, author of Applied Cryptography and creator of the Blowfish Encryption Algorithm. Password safe is now being developed by Jim Russel and administered by Rony Shapiro as an opensource project hosted on sourceforge.net

Password Safe is a free windows 9x/2000/ME/XP friendly utility, which allows the safe storage of encrypted passwords on a users computer. It uses Blowfish technology, and is unlocked by a single password combination.

The user interface is easily managed, allowing ample room entry notations. It has specific fields for usernames and passwords. It allows for a printed record, and may be set to save on addition or edit of an enter. It is completed by an easy to use help interface.

If you can't think of another password, let the product create one for you. The password generation feature gives the user full application control, by allowing the specification of upper and/or lowercase letters, symbols, digits and the password length.
