Outpost Firewall 2.5

I feel I must defend the Agnitum Outpost Firewall series. Ive been using their firewalls for 3 years now, starting off with Outpost Free 1.0 initially, then Pro Versions 2.0; 2.1 and now 2.5. It perhaps isnt the best firewall for novice users to try out. It does indeed require a bit of work to allow secure configuration. It does allow little plugins to further enhance usability that no other firewall allows. Therefore the Outpost Pro series requires intermediate or advanced knowledge; if you have the knowledge it is without doubt one of the best, most configurable and secure software firewalls available.
The best Freeware firewall in my opinion is Zonelabs Zonealarm - that would be the novice users first choice and requires llittle or no changing of configuration settings. And it does stop OUTBOUND requests (depending on user instructions) which Outpost Free does not.

A quick note about the Windows Firewall. You should NEVER have two firewalls running at once. If you are running the windows firewall with another standalone firewall such as Outpost, Zonealarm etc etc then you should disable the windows firewall completely and let the standalone firewall do its work.
