This product is a joke...

I spoke with thier development team, they are convinced that the standard home user should be logged in as an administrative level user. And without this priviledge you cannot use PestPatrol version 5.

Thier reasoning! Viruses and Worms do not obey they security levels of your computer and can make changes to the registry and file systems outside of your normal user permissions. Therefor you need to be an admin so that you can make changes to these areas to remove the worm/virus.

I'm not kidding...CA is Telling, no demanding that people have administrative level accounts.

What a joke.

My closing comments to them, You have taken a semi-decent product and made it unusable to the masses, great business plan. Could you aquire Microsoft next!

I used Pest pPatrol a while back... I was not fully satisfied with it back then. I downloaded and installed again today... We''ll see how far it lsts on my computer...
I found the program to be useful, and as an extra protection tool...

Limited users cannot alter the registry and the majority of installations require an administrator account, CA is right on that and it''''s wrong to critisize the program based on that fact alone.
However having used Pest patrol a few times AND listed 2 false positives I won''''t be purchasing a program i cannot trust.

You''re joking, right? Yeah, it takes an admin account to install software. CA knows this. CA also knows that it''s IMMEASUREABLY safer to use a limited user account while using the internet. PestPatrol should be able to actively scan and get signature updates REGARDLESS of the user type.

And you''re abandoning the software because of two false positives? Pfffft...
