I used Anti-Vir for about a year and had two false-positives. The first time, I let it go. The second time caused me problems because I spent hours trying to get rid of the alleged culprit. Both times, the false-positves occurred after an update and self-corrected after a subsequent update. This plus Anti-Vir's lack of real-time screening of email as it is being download is what motivated me to search for another AV program. If you want email scanning as it's being downloaded, especially if you download from a pop3 email server, then Anti-Vir is *not* the program for you.

Additionally, Anti-Vir offers no tech support for its free program (PE), and the forums were difficult to navigate. It did not help that the majority of the topic areas were in German.

I am now using TrendMicro's PC-cillin Antivirus v.11 available at BestBuy, and I love it. It has the option of downloading updates at the interval you select (every 3 to 9 hours). TrendMicro's newest product is an Internet Suite which is a bundled package which I don't need since I have the additional programs of my choice already installed (anti-spyware, firewall, etc.). PC-Cillin v. 11 is just an AV program and is $19.99 after the $20 mail-in rebate. I highly recommend it.
