C.A. Pest patrol v5 has gone from bad to worse. They've recently gone soft on spyware anyway so with their latest explanation about the updater malfunction from customer service, I decided to trash it.

Within the past week, I noticed that C.A. Pest patrol v5 would download the same updates over and over. That is to say, each time I would visit the update site, the downloader would show me the update that was downloading and it was the same as the last download.

To check this, I waited a week and tried the download again and again it was downloading the same update. I brought this to the attention of the customer service folks and they assured me that was normal behavior.
It didn't used to behave that way. Prior to this past month, I was always able to click the download link and I would either find an update and download it, or the application would tell me that the software was already up to date.

Now that I can't tell if C.A. Pest patrol is up to date or not, I have decided that it truly is a piece of junk ware and not worth the time and effort to keep a dialogue with their customer service folks. It should be noted however, that pest patrol v4 (which was not C.A. software) still functions properly.

I'll spend my next few dollars on the Sunbelt's CounterSpy.
