Installation the trial version of TH 4.6 and its update went very smoothly and the full system scan detected the 3 simulated Trojans I keep for tests.

The layouts of all screens are extremely neat and tidy, with all functions clearly described and easy to understand and use. From the point-of-view of graphic design the main screen is a bit dull, but it's far preferable, for example, to the plastic horror that comes with the free version of Avast.

TH 4.6 comes with some additional tools - Process Scanner, Autostart Viewer, Netstat Viewer, etc. These, although fairly basic ,work well and would be both useful and interesting to anyone who didn't already have other versions.

One feature of TH 4.6 that I greatly appreciated was the FEEDBACK provided by the program during a scan. The drive and directory are given, and the file names flash by at the top of the screen while a running log of what has been scanned and what has been found appears at the bottom. Simple enough, you would think, but what a refreshing contrast to those screens which provide so little feedback that you begin to suspect the program has stopped responding.

In contrast to the now defunct Diamond TDS-3, which was extremely complex, heavy on resources, and definitely for the technically inclined, the TH 4.6 is simple, light on resources, and clearly intended for simple souls who want something that is easy to understand and use and that will get the job of nailing Trojans done with the least fuss.

So if you live in constant terror of Trojans and want a fast and efficient scanner plus a Guard for resident memory scanning you should check out the trial version. That way you'll be able to find out if there are any conflicts with your system. There were none with mine.
