Spy Sweeper

My Score:

I had Spysweeper for over 4 years and even though my subscription didn''t run out I had to finally remove it. I was using the 5.2 updgraded version and it''s terrible. It slowed my computer down severly and was not compatable with my Anti-Virus software Bitdefender v10. It disabled Bitdefenders Real Time Protection. I''ll take Bitdefender v10 over Spysweeper any day. It also rarely found any spyware when I ran a scans. Previously I always would recommend spyweeper to anyone. NOT ANY MORE.!!

My Score:

I have effectively ditched SS, despite having over a year on my subscription, out of sheer aggravation and disgust. The program is a horrendous resource hog, and paralyzes my PC for minutes on end. Possibly due to Norton IS running on all cylinders, but who has time to putz with this? Webroot should fix the program so it plays well with others, or at least asks you what you''re running and turns off conflicting features.
I will run it for the occasional scan only, until the subscription dies.

My experience only; your mileage may vary. For all I know it runs like a dream if you have no other security software installed. That''s probably the way it''s tested by magazine reviewers ... the same reviewers who then tell you to install more than one security program!

BTW, has anyone calculated how much virus-writing a-holes have cost the planet in lost time, and the money spent contending with their idiocies? Just curious; I''m sure they''re moronic enough to be proud of the number.

SpySweeper has gone from excellent to terible. 5.0 versions are awful.
