Ver 5? Ver 6? Now Ver 7.0 free?

Pros: Its been the best anti-virus program for me! Easy, uncluttered interface, direct navigation, detects all viruses that've tried to sneak into my system (wayyy better than norton's which I use at work) also the simplest of all anti-virus programs I've tried. If I had 5 thumbs, I'd point em all up for this nifty little programme! Best of all, its Free (though not for long...)! AVG Anti-Virus Free Ed has never clashed with any system settings or other program's.

Cons: No malware detections (thank god spybot is free..). No Firewall settings (look on the bright side, Zonealarm is free!) The licensed version have options for malware protection and firewall settigns but it seems to have exactly the same virus fighting abilities as the free version.

Conclusion: I've never tried the customer support cos I never had a need for it. (Who needs customer support man?) Yes its that reliable for my system (winXP, 24/7 online capability, plenty of online game playing and web surfing, plus updating of websites and stuffs). However, I'm actually quite sad at the condition of the website. AVG really needs to spruce their online presence with a top notch designer, or else it'll look like some cheap company's cheam programme (which it is totally not!). Last word, definitely value for money (hey, its free!)!

I use AVG 7.0 free for antivirus and AVG antimalware free version backed up by Spybot and Spywareblaster. They work, oure and simple and don''t require a degree in existential semantics to operate (Like Norton...)

I confirm that AVG is to remain in a free version. I have used (and paid for!) McaFee, Norton and others. They all worked OK for a while, but it seems to me they went on the ''we do it all'' bandwagon, became bloated and messed up my system(s). AVG''s anti-virus and anti-spyware are still separate entities and as such will or should not become over zealous in ''protecting'' our systems. Please, AVG. Don''t combine them as a ''package''. AVG- ''A Very Good'' solution to your intrusion problems. More power to them!

Make sure to download the latest version, as earlier versions do not update anymore, and have expiration warnings if you install them. 7.5 is the latest major revision, but the first releases of it had problems on some computers or would not delete expired earlier versions. I get my free avg fix from www.filehippo.com, as it is right on the page, next to other free av (and anti-spyware) programs, no hunting for it.

The free version is getting harder to find... Try looking here:

My family of friends running this on 7 computers... Everyone loves it!

Cheers!

Based on your review, you seem to state it''s not going to be free soon.

It''s free and version 7.5 remains free. Don''t believe in rumours.
