IMHO the free SD is garbage. Google Pack deleted the excellent free AdAware and added this instead for a reason - they're no saints @ Google with all respect. Don't get me wrong - they're in an excellence class with Microsoft and GOOG's biggest customer AOL. If you take my drift... . :)

BTW, the paid SD is equal garbage. PC Tools is a company whom IMHO showed be banned for their rubbish approach to alleged security programs. Let's leave it at that.

Spyware Doctor

My Score:

I have the latest version of Spyware Doctor with Antivirus and that is why I am back on with Castlecops. I keep finding the exact same infections back on my computer immediately after scanning and deleting said same infections which are:

Adware.CoolWebSearch_GonnaSearch

and

Trojan.CWS

IMNSHO, if this program is such hot s*#@, how come it is not blocking these infections. Oh, it is great at finding them and it looks like they are being removed but I have some doubts. If I am online and I run Intelli-Scan, it will find these infections. I can tell Spyware Doctor to remove them and scan a few minutes later and they are back immediately.

I started searching online on how to get rid of these infections and my search ultimately lead me back to Castlecops. So, now the job is to find out how to permanently block these infections.

Don''t waste your money on PC Tools Spyware Doctor. It only finds stuff and possibly removes it temporarily. It does not seem to work in real time scan mode and block potential threats.

Regards All!

Well, ad-related features aside (I''m not sure I understand the objection) when I downloaded this with the google service pack (sans desktop explorer, that''s too big a security hole thanks) it found 5 files with 40 infections or something, so it must be doing something useful.

That being said, all the other software I got free on reference from CastleCops'' wiki probably would have caught this, I just haven''t run it in a long time, it doesn''t really protect actively I guess. Updating Spybot would help too, lol.
