Compare Product Reviews in this ClassComprehensive product. I have been using it for two years and have finetuned it in combination with POFile so as to yeild an extremely low false positive rate. As such, I only make use of one MWP Spam Tool - the filter toll, specifically Regular Expression filters.
Which necessitates mention of one of the two major MWP deficiencies, the inability to combine various Spam Tool matches into a unified action plan. All those wonderful Spam Tool mechanisms can't be used to reduce false positives because of this deficiency. Only because I combine MWP regex filters with POPFile bayesian filters can I get superiour performance -- not something the average user is prepared to do.
The other deficiency is that MWP is a prescreening client rather than a proxy. This means that in the window of inopportunity between MWP checking for new msgs - i.e. check for Junk, legit, etc., processing msgs, bringing up the client -- and downloading remaining msgs, new msgs (possibly SPAM) could well have arrived at the mail server. it also means that the client's mail poll can't be enabled for fear of SPAM slipping through. These nuances aren't well understood by ininitiated users and leads to a lot of confusion.
