For the money (FREE), it's simply impressive!

For those of you wallowing-around with the performance degrading Norton Anti-Virus product, please, do yourself and your system a favor, uninstall NAV, and get something like AVG!

Viruses and other malware are getting smarter, and I for one am getting sick-and-tired of repairing or reinstalling NAV over-and-over again. It's pointless.

AVG's low system resource usage allows your system to operate near peak performance! This is its number one feature -- besides the FREE price. As a matter of fact, if you ever manually disable AVG, you may never notice the performance difference.

After uninstalling NAV, then installing AVG 6.0 Free, and running a full system scan, AVG immediately discovered 4 viral infections that NAV did not detect: 1) Win32/Hantaner.A; Win32/Yabinder.M; PSW.Spynow; and Music.Search. Don't ask me why NAV failed me. It had all its component updates and the latest virus definitions, but AVG simply won me over when it discovered these.

My only minor gripes are you have to wait for the free activation code to be mailed to you prior to installation (which may take days if you're using a web mail interface, like Yahoo, MSN, etc.); and it's scanning performance of minimally compressed database files (like .dbx files in Outlook Express) could be a bit faster.

Overall, great product.
