Computer Cops Newsletter: Fourth Installment
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The year 2004 has quickly come and gone and a lot of new things have happened since our last newsletter (11 Jun 2003) went out to you, our subscribed newsletter member. As before, our newsletter focuses on some simple site information which will be shared with you. So lets begin.

1) News Columnists

CCSP now has front page news staff writers (three). They are, and we welcome them:

- Ian Thompson
Ian's biography and news archives can be found here: http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=3.

- Marcia J. Wilson
Marcia's biography and news archives can be found here: http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=5.

- Paul Laudanski
Paul's biography and news archives can be found here: http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=4.

2) Yahoo!

Yahoo in their weekly updated TechTuesday page (http://news.yahoo.com/techtuesday/) during the week of January 14, 2004 highlighted computer security and listed CCSP as a resource for expert security assistance.

Details: http://computercops.biz/a4664-Yahoo_Lists_Computer_Cops_on_TechTuesday.html

5) Statistics

CCSP has grown tremendously in recent months. January 2004 saw over 3.2 million page hits (http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Statistics&op=Stats). That is over 120,000 hits per day. Our membership has also grown to nearly 31,000 registered (http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Statistics).

6) Free Email Virus Scans

This service is working once again. The entire procedure is automated, so you can send attachments to "scan_with_ccsp@computercops.biz" for a second opinion. Our engine makes use of Eset's NOD32 Linux For Mail Server binary. For more details please visit: http://computercops.biz/a770-Computer_Cops_New_Email_Virus_Scan_Service.html.

7) Addison-Wesley

CCSP started a new partnership with this publishing company in order to bring to our membership book contests. These book giveaways focus on security and privacy literature. Our first book giveaway will be coming shortly. Stay tuned to front page news articles.

8) Gallery

This new module was installed and activated on the site to allow the membership a path for uploading files/attachments. With this new service, you can link back to these uploads in your forum posts.

9) ICRA

We are a participant in the Internet Content Rating Association program (http://www.icra.org/about/). What this means from our perspective is:

Chat: Moderated chat suitable for children and teens
Language: Mild expletives
Nudity and sexual material: No nudity or sexual material
Other topics: None of the topics in this section
Violence: No violence

10) Converged Bookmarks

CCSP has implemented a module to enable registered members to track bookmarks in their own repository. For use: http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Bookmarks.

11) Downloads

We have many files available for download: http://computercops.biz/downloads.html.

Computer Cops continues to grow and expand daily. Since the last time we have sent a newsletter, we have upgraded to dual Xeon CPUs and dual SCSI hard drives. These have enabled the web site to respond and react to your needs faster than ever. We will continue to work on better, quicker, and important upgrades to not only our hardware but also software services.

Much of our participation exists in the forums (http://computercops.biz/forums.html). Lots of fresh ideas, quick support, and camaraderie has instilled a sense of quality and uniqueness that sets CCSP apart. A special thanks go out to the CCSP staff for their exuberance and zeal.

Thank you,

Paul Laudanski
CEO/Founder
