Now that we've all had our chance to say our parting words about Blue Security and whatever its legacies might be, the reason for the existence of the Blue Security forum has faded away. Hence at some time on Thursday, 1-June-2006, the Blue Security Forum on CastleCops will be frozen and archived at /f230-Blue_Security.html. The moderators wish to thank all who participated in the forum.

Blue Security and our beloved Fred have made a difference. Many more people are now aware of just how dangerous and intrusive the spammers and extortionists can be. Now the struggle to make the internet safe has moved into a new phase.

I want to thank Castle Cops for offering us sanctuary and a means to continue to communicate with the Blue Security community. Paul, Robin, Chris and everyone involved have been wonderfully supportive and we appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Is there a forum where the active threads will be transferred so we can continue our discussions? We're having so much fun now that we've all gotten to know each other through Blue's demise.

The forum will be missed almost as much as Fred.

To all the BSec. owners and employees as well as the Forum Moderators, our best wishes for your future.

We need to atleast have a closing ceremony. A lowering of the Blue Frog flag to the sound of 'The Last Post' or 'Taps'. Champagne and h'ordeurve's as we compare battle scars and tell stories of heroism in the face of the enemy.

Well if it's something ppl want, I can add a general spam forum to the messageboard at my site. If it's kept as a general spam board and not directly connected to any of the Frogs that are currently in development, I doubt the spam filth would bother targeting it.

I agree with this decision, it is time to end our grief over Fred's passing - particularly since it seems that Fred may have spawned many children ready to take up the fight. Move on, look to the future, and stop complaining about the past. The past is past and cannot be changed, neither the good, bad or ugly of it. We can change the future, and yesterday's arrests of 565 spammers/scammers and crooks demonstrate that we are having an effect. It will take time, effort and work to take back the Internet, but it will happen. Move on to the next steps, and remember Fred and BF fondly for what they attempted to do, accomplished, and showed us what we can do.

I'm not sure why this forum has to dissappear but assuming that decision has been vetted appropriately, my suggestion would be that interested parties convene at the CastleCops Spam forum.

Fred our Frog offered us the possibility of regaining control over our inbox. With his help, many of us succeeded. Along the way we discovered that Fred was pretty good at fighting internet crime. As it turned out Fred taught us his greatest lesson at his demise.

Blue Security’s experience highlighted the true state of the internet, which has become a lawless, anarchic place. No community can survive in chaos for very long. Fred and the Blue Security Community fought the good fight, and throughout held on to their values. We must now look to the future, knowing that spam fighting is only one aspect of a much larger issue, which must be addressed if we are to regain our internet. Blue Security’s exit from spam fighting, and the closure of this forum are not the end. This is only the end of the beginning.

The Blue Security team did well. I am proud to have had the opportunity to have been a small part of this unique effort. Thank you to all members of the larger Blue Community and to the folks at CastleCops for your hospitality.
