I installed Vista Beta 2 on a third partition of my drive recently (first is XP, second is various media files). I need to access Safe Mode of XP, but it only will let me go into the boot menu of Vista. It won't let me access the boot menu of XP (or, as Vista calls it, earlier version of Windows). Is there any way to get there?

Also, I want to remove Vista soon, but I read somewhere that Vista moves the MBR from the XP partition to its own partition. If I just reformat the partition, it would erase the MBR, which would mean I have to reformat the whole drive to make XP work again, right? Help...please?

Boot into Vista and get to 'Advanced System Properties'. There you can tell Vista that XP is your default Operating system. Then, during boot up, just hit the f8 key as always to get safe mode.

I have removed Vista twice from a partition by simply deleting the hidden boot folder and these 3 files: Boot.bak, bootmgr and BOOTSECT.BAK then after booting into XP, deleting the partition with the Management Console under Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management.

It did no harm at all to XP and I did not need to 'fix' anything in XP.
