xp + fat32 ?

I was converting a system to ntfs from fat32 today (the user upgraded to xp themselves and did not know about the file conversion process) when it occurred to me that this could actually make it more vulnerable to ADS and rootkits .

Is this assumption correct and if it is how would you weigh the trade off ?

You can equally able to secure NTFS that much more.
