Recently installed Vista build 2
amd 1.3 ghz
wd 1200
wd 400
nvidia fx5500
1g ram
dell usb optical mouse
(home built, "made in taiwan" pc)
Windows Vista Ultimate beta 2, all updates installed...

Whenever I run media center in full screen I lose the cursor, it's there, icons light up when the cursor crosses them, but I cannot see it. When downsized it shows back up... Any one reporting the same problem?

also, on my last installation, Vista recognized my dual screen capabilities and apparently installed the necessary software, I believe it found the software through my main drive which contains the nvidia drivers for xp...
So I downloaded the Vista drivers from nvidia, and installed them, (because I'm hard headed) immediatelly I saw that there was an error when opening properties windows, media player 11 etc...
I can't possibly tell which windows showed the error but those are some, while most of the other windows were fine...
The error shows the window out of focus a bit, and the cursor doubles or clones itself diagonally from the original one, but the original clicks on items.... Now that I have installed Vista again, it appears to be gone.

Here's the important part... as this problem was happening, I had never shut down the pc after installing nvidia/vista drivers on my own... I decided to restart the computer and see what went on after that... as it started it booted straight into xp... I checked for h drive (vista) and it was there, but it showed all 40 gigs used up... when rebooted it went straight to xp again, then I used the vista image cd to boot, went into the tools section and I could not use any of the options except to try to scan for the problem and repair, but it said the boot manager was missing, and after trying everything possible to reinstall boot manager, I decided for a fresh install....

I have reported this to nvidia about their vista drivers, (maybe that's the problem with my configuration) and hopefully they can come up with a solution, meanwhile if anyone has come up with these errors, or any errors for that matter please post them here so that we can try and resolve them before we start frying our computers...

thx in advance for any help and suggestions..

No sweat. Would you like to be referred (moved) to General Computer Problems? Might find more help there. Wink

Ok... apparently the problem is fixed, had to do with pointer trails, I took them off, and voila! no more duplicate cursor... But the out of focus windows keep coming up, like for example the properties windows for my graphics adapter, the help center etc... most seem fine, but some come up a bit off on the focus.... maybe you can see what im talking about... in the picture you can see the properties box is not as crisp as the others....
Did anyone encounter the same problem? I call it a problem because it gives me a headache to force my eyes to read in that state...
thx
