No one I know can set expert rules under Program Control, can everyone please check and see if they can. This seems to be a bug with the new version of Zone Alarm Pro unless the people I know are just special. Everytime the computer or Zone Alarm is restarted the expert rules that were made disappear. This was not a problem before the last update...
Zone Alarm Pro 6.5.722

I can create, delete and recreate the expert rules. The problem is that when I restart my computer or just restart zone alarm the expert rules that I create are not there anymore, they disappear. For what ever reason zone alarm won't save them.
This isn't in the firewall section but in the program control section.
Where you highlight the program you want to work with and then click 'Options'. Then click the 'Expert Rules' tab and add the rules.
They just keep disappearing everytime the program shuts down and starts up again...
Thanks for helping me, I don't always make myself clear so I don't know if you went through the same process. Zone alarm will save the expert rules I create under the firewall section but it doesn't seem to do the same for my program.
There are three machines that I know of that this is the case, since the last update.

Have you reset their Databases? If you have, look at the software running in windows and see if you have anything that clears out files during shutdown or startup. If there is tell it to leave c:\windows\internet logs folder alone. Could be your DB is getting erased with other temp files. Some programs will include the files in that folder as temp files. _________________ For ZoneAlarm help http://www.donhoover.net

You always lose any changes on a reboot so shut down and restart or ZA uses it's backup of your settings.

Yeah I reset the database, had to do it in safety mode. Wouldn't let me move the files any other way. Zone alarm is the only program I am shutting down and restarting. Zone Alarm was set to remove tmp files in the cache cleaning settings but I removed that setting and it still does the same. It saves everything else, the only problem I am having is when I create expert rules under Program Control. As soon as I shut down zone alarm and restart zone alarm the expert rules are no longer there. If I create a backup of my settings and restore them with zone alarm then the expert rules are there again but I just would like it to work as it is suppose to and did before the last update...
thanks...

Look in the internet logs folder and see if there are any bak files created during rebooting. Also look in the Event viewer in XP and see if anything is mentioned. _________________ For ZoneAlarm help http://www.donhoover.net
