Zone Alarms Anti-Virus Monitoring Section states that it cannot detect any anti-virus on my computer, however on the Overview it states that Avast e-mail and web scanners are operating. Also with the Avast mail scanner operating should ZA's e-mail protection be left on or is it not required. I would be grateful for any advice/opinions anyone has on these points.

Was Avast or ZA installed first? Also does this persist with a reboot?

As for the e-mail protection, leave it on. It uses the file extensions on attachments only. If the attachment is exactable, then the extension gets changed so that you have to go thru an extra screen when opening the attachment.

Hello Hoov Thanks for your speedy response.

Avast was installed before ZA, will that have any effect on either programmes? Regards Ray

It shouldn't but try reinstalling it with ZA running.

Also try turning both of them off, restart ZA, and then restart the Avast realtime scanner and see if that does the trick.

Thanks for your response Hoov.

Avast was installed first. I reinstalled Avast with ZA on and it hasn't changed, still not monitoring even after reboot. I don't suppose it really matters much as the Security Centre and Avast should both tell me if there was a problem but I just wanted to know for my own piece of mind that ZA was fully functioning.

One other thing I have set the firewall to high for both the Internet and Trusted zones will this be ok (it seems to be) I am not on a local network or share info with any other computer, so I thought the more protection the better. Regards

I will turn this into ZoneLabs so they can look into it. If they need anymore info I will point them to your direction.
