|
|
Dear Cops,
Hope you can help on this one and sorry if I'm not under the right topic, but none found for F-Secure.
I cannot finalize installation of F-Secure because it keeps saying that "It was not possible to remove all conflicting programs. Please remove following software manually" - and the only one listed is Yahoo Toolbar - which came bundled with the IE of my Windows XP.
As you probably have heard, the deamon toolbar will not let itself remove that easy in all cases, but after a long fight - which I believed I had won - there seems to be still something left. I have even unistalled my Acrobat Reader, as I understand a recent update also comes whith YT as an "option".
In the meanwhile, I have not had a firewall in my PC for nearly a week - and that is BAD. (no reply from F-Secure support in 5 days).
Please tell me how to get around this
Thanks in advance
Rose

You should definately get rid of Yahoo toolbar...in my opinion, toolbars are just plain annoying and always in the way.
I haven't tried F-Secure yet, but I did use their virus scanner, which was able to find some things that others didn't.

^ Related to a toolbar, but I'm not sure if its the yahoo one.
Did you check the system requirements for F-Secure? It might not be compatible with some applications.

use more tools to ensure that no malware or spyware is on your system
http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_Removal_and_Prevention:_Overview
if any of the tools come back positive post hjt log (using the latest hjt version 1.99.1) in HJT forum
update your sun java to latest jre1.5.0_08. Remove the old version before updating using Add/Remove progs
