I recently tried to install Kerio Personal Firewall. The instillation program halts with the error message "A higher version of Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall is already installed" and will not allow me to continue the installition.

The same question was asked on this board

Neither question was answered in public. I took the advise of in the second post, and e-mailed tech support at Support@sunbelt-software.com This is the question I sent, and the answer I recieved.

If you are utilizing the trial version of SPKF, please provide the
following information for support. Open the firewall, choose the
Overview tab/License and send in a screenshot of this image. You can do
this by hitting the print screen button on your keyboard, you will not
see anything happen, then open word and go to edit, paste, save the
document, and attach it to the email message.

If you are using the Free version of SPKF or KPF, you can look to our KB
or Forum for answers.

I'm not entirely certain that the tech support rep completely read my question. She asked me to open the firewall and send her a screenshot of the license, when my problem is that I cannot install the software at all. She also redirected me back here, where the question is asked, but not answered. Could some one please direct me to where I can find the solution to my problem so that I can install the software and give it a proper evaluation?

She is actually a tech coordinator and she didn't read the email. Sorry about that. Can you send me your email address so I can't email you instructions.

Here is how to fix the "A higher version of Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall is already installed" and installation stops:


1. Please download an older version of Kerio from the following link: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/kerio423.exe

2. You can click on the above link and choose Save. Save this file to your desktop.

3. Now you can double-click the new installer file that was saved on your desktop to begin the installation.

4. Restart your machine

5. Now you will see a purple shield icon down in the system tray by your clock. Right-click on this link and choose Exit. This will close Kerio down

6. You can delete the Kerio install icon off of your desktop now. You do this by clicking once on the icon and choosing Delete on your keyboard.

6. Now we can have you update to the latest version. Please click on the below link and save this file to your desktop: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/evaluation/440/Kerio.exe

7. Once the save is completed, you can double-click the new install icon for Kerio and this will perform an upgrade for Kerio.
