Sorting on Status column could be enhanced to not only sort on the first entry, the one shown, but also on any additional filters/tools that fired.

That would help me out by sorting ones tagged by a specific filter and also by spamcop into groups so I could use shift-click to select them for reporting.

While I agree 100% that enhanced sort options would be great, rather than having to right-click to select those for reporting, I sure would like to have "Mark the email for reporting" added to the "Action" section of the filter editor.

That said, I must be fortunate because my ISP - Cox - tags all suspected spam by prefixing --spam-- to the subject. This makes for an excellent argument to look for in a filter. And I must say, they do catch most spam, so MWP groups (sorts) those together, making shift-click selecting and marking for reporting easy. However, always seeking the most efficient method (read: chronic laziness), if they were pre-marked... Wink

My problem is that I report enough to spamcop.net that it gets expensive and I'm trying to not report stuff already on the spamcop.net DNSBL.

I filter for Declude's spam X-Header tagging and sort based on that but that scan is done at the time the message arrives at my ISP, not when MW downloads it to my PC. Given the time difference that can be 12 hours or more on a slow day I get a lot more spamcop hits from the MW spamcop tool that are hard to identify without a mouse-over and wait.

Well if you would plant some roots somewhere and go landline broadband you wouldn't have this problem!!! Wink

I agree - and the mouse-over and wait routine with a bunch of emails is certainly a hassle. I must admit, if I was limited to dial-up or satelite, I probably would not report - that might be different if I knew I was making an impact, but for all the reporting I and others do, the spam problem keeps getting worse. Sad

I still say there's something wrong with this picture. Why they charge folks to report spam is beyond me. If they need funds, I'd say they should charge for the use of their blacklist. Confused

Anyway, I'm leaning more towards allowing auto-reporting. Yes there will be more false postives but with filtering to ID multiple reports of the same spam, as well as whitelists to rule out legit bulk emailers, FPs can be quickly discounted. Plus this approach would get the spammer blacklisted real quick -- i.e. perhaps even while the spam mailout is still in progress? Wink

Spamcop.net does offer free reporting, the paid reporting is faster and less hassle though.

We sold the RV to turn into babysitters for the new grand kid, in exchange for fixing poopy diapers I got a DSL connection, it is faster than the satellite but has its own set of problems.

Spamcop is owned by IronPort and they offer some nice enhanced services to their paying customers as well as some excellent mail sending technology that actually improves your mail's chances of being delivered.

Spamcop is pretty quick to blacklist, they hit most big spam runs while they are in progress, smaller ones still generate reports so the compromised machines can be fixed.

This is similar enough that I thought I'd toss it in here.

It would be very helpful for me if I could:

a) be able to sort the From column by domain (i.e., @hotmail.com, etc.); and

b) have primary, secondary (etc.) sorting capabilities using different columns (1: date; 2: sender; you get the idea).

The second would be really nice; the first would be terrific. TY.
