I subscribe to a number of mailing lists. The mails always are addressed TO the list address - I set up a filter to detect this, but it doesn't add that feature to the Friends list, and I have to set every individual sender as a Friend.
Some mailing lists make a practice of inserting their initials in the subject line, to assist subscribers. I have set this also as a filter - at least these filters prevent the mails from being blacklisted, but it would be better if they could provide automatic addition to the Friends list.
Any hope of modifying the software to do this?

Why do you have to add the senders as friends if the filter is properly detecting the message as legitimate?

I want to set them as Friends so that I don't have to look at and consider mails which are not thus identified - i.e. appearing as green in the list.

Mails highlighted in green are set by the learning tool, not the friends list.
Mails that have a green "Friends" in the status field are set by the friends list.
You can set a filter to mark messages with a green "Friends" in the status field too.
