|
|
First, thanks to Firetrust for making a Linux version ... I wondered what I was going to use in place of Mailwasher Pro for Windows now that I've dumped Windows.
In no particular order:
1. the visuals are pretty awful - poorly rendered fonts, clunky icons and graphics. It's by far the ugliest Ubuntu app I've seen so far (attached)
2. the 'size' column always displays '0'
3. 'Origin of spam' dialog shows 'Check origin of email egains ...' - I guess that should be 'against'
4. the Windows version had a few blacklist servers already listed in 'Origin of spam' - could we have that for Linux as well?
5. when an email is identified as 'Legitimate' and I click the spam checkbox, it changes to 'Junk', but if the email is identified as 'Probable spam' and I check 'Junk', it remains as 'Probable spam'. Shouldn't it be become 'Junk' as well?
6. feature request: URL launcher for the preview window (very important for me)
7. feature request: cursor hover over field which is too long to display should appear in tooltip
8. Thunderbird is not launched after processing if it's set as my default, but Evolution is
9. when selecting multiple emails for restore in the mail log using CTRL+click, clicking an already selected item does not deselect it
10. the restore email progress bar keeps moving from 0% to 100% while restoring. Is it showing progress per individual email? Either way it provides no useful indicator for how long all the emails will take to restore.
11. at the end of restore email progress bar there's a few characters - 'ng to m'. I assume these are cut off and should actually tell me something?
12. restore email does not work. I tried multiple emails and gave up after 10 minutes. I then tried just one, but the progress bar just kept cycling up and down. No error messages.
13. the system tray icon is not transparent around the black 'plug hole' - it's white
14. the icon in Applications ... Internet is a default icon, not the 'plug hole'

No reply from devs? I was told to this was the place for feedback.
If nothing else, I'd like to know how I restore my deleted emails please.

The linux folks get busy from time to time, they should get back to you at some point though. You could try a PM to gingbat if you need a quicker response. _________________ Questions? Try the wiki

hey david, Yes, sorry for delays, we have new support system launched this week, ironing out some bugs. And yes for anything specific and urgent, it may be quicker to email support for this.
Also, have been waiting for our developer to get a new version with many of your problems fixed out to us but he must be busy too!!
For the restore problem, yes, this should work, if using fiesty, try this version:
http://tinyurl.com/3bxyd8
And double check your smtp settings.

Hey gingbat,
Thanks for the reply. Restore works with that version.
Further feedback:
1. Spam Tools Blacklist dialog shows 'When an email is from a person in your blocklist' - that should be 'blacklist'?
2. when marking email that has been identified as probable spam as legitimate, the status remains 'Probable spam' (sometimes!). Also the email address is not added to the friends list even though I have checked the option to add it to the friends list while learning
3. when marking emails as legitimate (which changed status to 'legitimate') I then right clicked an email and added to friend's list - all the emails above it that had changed to 'legitimate' now went back to 'Possible spam' even though the check remained in the legitimate box
4. legitimate / friends emails are being hidden even though all locations for 'display email' are checked (Recognizing spam, Recognizing email, Friends List)
I'll look forward to seeing this Linux version develop.
Cheers.

Great, glad to hear that fixed it, and thanks for the other points, will pass these on.
And yes, the learning is behaving very strangely sometimes, we are working on this and should be sorted for next version.
Cheers!

They really need to do a locked-sticky topic like rusticdog does for the windows beta versions to make the latest builds easy to find.
I'll ping gingbat with this as a hint. _________________ Questions? Try the wiki

Good day,
I've been using Mailwasher Pro with WinXP for what seems like decades! and get on very well with it.
I just downloaded the Linux Version Pro 2.0.0 and even though everything is just like the windows version there is a slight problem in that none of the mails are displayed in the Mail window.
The mails are all there but "hidden" or something.
Also when a hidden mail is highlighted the view in the preview panel is the complete message in the source code - no use at all !
any ideas?
I'm using ubuntu 7.04 Fiesty BTW
thanks in advance.
regards
Howie

Hi Howie, Yep, all the boxes are likely unchecked under, Tools>>Options>>Display for which columns you want showing...?
