Posted: Thu Jul 26, 2007 4:12 pm Post subject: Thunderbird extension and zip file? |
|
|
Since our ISP/smtp server now continuously blocks us from sending email using the Thunderbird extension (which was great btw), is there a way we can change or update the extension so that it more easily creates a .zip file for us to upload manually, or ideally, creates a .zip file ready to email?
It seems like a 10-step process to forward as attachments, save as, zip, etc. I'm not lazy, but it gets old when you're managing 5 different email addresses.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

here are two workarounds that don't touch the knujon extension:
1) use thunderbird features so you only have to zip once, instead of once for each account.
use thunderbird's "saved search" folders to display all spam not tagged as having been sent (i use the "memorable"/purple tag which is number 4).
you can set the saved search to show spam emails from all 5 of your accounts at once.
then you can forward all, save, zip, and upload junk.
it's still tiresome, but there's no reason you have to do it once for each account.
2) don't use your isp's email service to send the reports
I have a gmail account that i use to forward to knujon.
i use it to forward for all my accounts to my account as a registered knujon user.
gmail is sent over ssl, so there should be no problems with your isp.

brewt - Thank you for your reply, 'preciate it.
However, I assumed knujon wants the spam emails/attachments to be sent from the address that actually received the spam (regardless of using the extension or not). See post at http://www.castlecops.com/postlite191012-.html. Is this not true? Using option 2, all spam emails would be sent from the gmail account, not necessarily from the account who received the spam. ?

This is not necissary as long as you send it all to your unique account, it will be credited to your profile.
Hope this helps!

knujon - Thank you, I'll disregard what was stated in http://www.castlecops.com/postlite191012-.html.
So, if I was to send to the nonregistered address, it makes no difference what email is sending it, just make sure the original emails are attached?

If you are a registered member, always use your unique address. Anyone may send anything at any time from any email address to the general nonregistered address.

Good, thank you. So then, you only process the attached messages and their contents, not the email address that is actually sending the attached messages, correct? Just want to be clear.

Would be cool to have this cleared up, as a couple months back, Knujon sent out an "remove me" request on my behalf, and they used my knujon-registered address in the e-mail request.
But turns out, the "spammer" company didn't have me on their list...lol (they only spam Yahoo! e-mail boxes lol) - my knujon account is registered as a gmail account.
So, they sent the request to this spammer to remove my "gmail" account, but they should have told them to remove my "yahoo" account.
But yea, I've been submitting all my spam from 1 centralized gmail account, not at all linked with my knujon account, but addressed to my personal knujon address, so hopefully the process works out alright.
