I was wondering if anyone had gotten an HP Media Vault networked storage device to work while ZA 7.0 Freeware is running?

After installing the Media Vault by attaching to my network's router and dealing with the usual messages from ZA about allowing access, the software for the Media Vault says that it can not find the device. Checking via "My Computer" lists the device but shows it as a disconnected network drive. I've gone through and made sure that all of the programs that HP says need to be allowed were included in ZA's list but still no luck.

When I disable ZA, everything runs fine and the Media Vault is visable. I must be missing something but can't figure out what it might be. HP says that if the device is working fine when the firewall is down, that it's not really an issue with their product but with ZA. So I'll turn to the gurus on this forum to see if you've got any solutions.

Thanks in advance for any help.

maybe put your router ip address in Trusted zone, which should include your other devices on the network.

If Cudni's suggestion doesn't work, try connecting again, then go to the alerts and logs section, and open the logviewer and see what they entry is for the blockage. If you find it, and it doesn't make sense, post it up here and I will translate it for you.

Also make sure the trusted Zone Security is on medium.

Thanks to Cudni and Hoov for the suggestions. I looked at the Alerts log and found that it was showing the PC was being blocked from going to the IP address of the Media Vault. After putting that address into the Trusted list, everything works fine. I probably should have thought of this on my own but after seeing reviews showing this as a common problem, I figured it was something more difficult (D'oh!).

Anyway, thanks to both of you for your help and hopefully others will benefit from this little exercise as well.

Thank You
