Hello friends,

I am having trouble installing a Canon iP6700D printer via USB. This printer was working fine on this computer (http://www4.dealtime.com/xPF-Desktop-with-Intel-Pentium-4-Processor-2-8GHz-D400a) until I installed a new motherboard (http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P4i65G) and new CPU.

Everything else is working great, including a USB connected scanner.

I'm sure the motherboard installation is correct because I when I connect the printer via USB I hear the connect sound and the 'found new printer' window appears.

I've attempted installing the driver with both the install CD and the automated driver install via windows update. Either way, I get the following:

Please advise.

Thanks,

Ryan

Is there a better forum out there for this type of question? Does Canon have a dedicated troubleshooting forum? What should I do?

I love the CastleCops concept, but I always seem to meet with disappointment here at this site. Not only have page load times been ridiculously slow, simple posts such as this one go unanswered.

I found the solution to my printer problem, and it was rather simple.

Disable the Anti-Virus! You guys couldn't tell me this?

These guys seem to care a bit more:

Hi Ryan,

It would seem that you discovered the answer yourself then posted it in that forum. I didn't reply to your query as I am not familiar with Canon products - I figured no answer is better than an answer which exacerbates the problem.

Given the hundreds of posts daily at CC it is hardly surprising that not every one gets answered immediately, although that is one of our aims.

Hi Mister2,

Thank you for your reply - and you bring up an interesting point. I guess I treat you guys differently and hold you up to a higher standard than that of the other folks. I expect you to know things, when maybe you don't - and that's okay.

In addition, when posts go unanswered it feels lonely. The other guys will tell you their there and listening, but may not have the answer. This feels nice.

Ryan Wink

That is a very good point, and one I tend to forget from time to time. A problem which has apparently been overlooked provides no help to anyone, and when you're stuck it's good to just bounce ideas around.

Thanks for replying, and have a great day Smile
