JERUSALEM - Archaeologists digging at the purported biblical home of Goliath have unearthed a shard of pottery bearing an inscription of the Philistine’s name, a find they claimed lends historical credence to the Bible’s tale of David’s battle with the giant.

From your own article:

"“What this means is that at the time there were people there named Goliath,” he said."

These are the actual words of the researcher, Dr. Aren Maeir.

war-ruler made a false statement in his topic. This find only means that someone was named Goliath, it does not prove anything related to any of the stories in the Bible. Please post with more responsibility, especially since your own article refutes your false claims.

The sentence below, which attempts to falsely give more credence to the find, does not belong to the researcher, but to the author of the story.

"While the discovery is not definitive evidence of Goliath’s existence,"

In fact, this "discovery" is not evidence of the biblical Goliath's existence AT ALL. Not definitive, not partial, not evidence of any kind.

Difficult subject. I'd hate to be the archaeologist claiming that.

Either the pottery was to commemorate the event( I doubt, since Goliath lost), or it was made for someone with a similar name from the period (The most probable), or it was the property of the person mentioned in the Bible story (Too easy. Remember Helena, Constantine the Great's mother, conveniently finding all the "sacred" spots mentioned in the Bible, and building churches on the spots, to collect money from the pilgrims, that came from far and wide to see these "holy" places?).

Even I, who would tend to view many of the Bible stories as possible historical facts, find it difficult to believe the latter.

Way too much archaeological fraud has happened, even thousands of years ago, for small items like that to be taken seriously.

Again, who killed Goliath?

That difficult of a question, war-ruler?

Greetings esoteric one! Sorry to have missed your classes. I apologize for that. It's a false statement. Now, I have a question for you.

Pity
Remorse
Happiness
etc.?

Tell me how learned one, with "proof", and then I'll answer your question about Goliath.

Not so. Read it again. I did not write it was the Goliath of scripture who fought David. It reads

Archaeologists Find Proof of Goliath

The intent is to give another view of archaeology besides the one expounded on these forums. You just jumped to incorrect conclusions about my intentions. It could be any Goliath. Or could it? Maybe time will tell. But the name Goliath was found and the topic was worded to invoke interest for readers.

Esoteric one! I note your refusal to answer my question. Cowardly evasion noted. How can such a learned one avoid answering my simple question? You always have an educated answer for everything. Not this time eh?

This remains unanswered by the cowardly evader.

Why?

Should be a simple question to answer. . . .

Another denigrating remark esoteric one? I would expect someone of your intelligence to be above such ways.

Pot meets the kettle.

The coward stands in his manure pile alone, for if he lacks the courage to face the obvious question regarding a topic he initiated--but apparently did not familiarize himself with for some reason--he is merely an object of ridicule.
