Well first of all, I am not saying this is definitely rogue but some questionable results.

XoftspySE

http://www.paretologic.com/products/xoftspyse/index.aspx

Most of the removal methods for the supposed findings lead to questionable sources as well. Trying to get info on any or help through Xoftspy is null, although I don't have the "Purchased" version.

That said, I have no such registry keys as it stated. I have registry backups, total uninstall, and no such keys exist, only in the scan that takes nearly, 15 seconds. I haven't used an app that scans this quick and finds anything. I have found no malicious intent other than numerous outgoing attempts to somewhere. Please note, crawler is supposed to be there.

What I don't like is the fact that most of the severe removal methods as stated, take you to other sites that are warned against.

Also, another interesting bit, and not included with the above... BUT a Panda scan which so many anti-spyware enthusiasts seem to direct users to, seems to carry unwanted baggage..

See my results when trying it..

Virus or unwanted program 'W95/Blumblebee.1738 [W95/Blumblebee.1738]'
detected in file 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\ActiveScan\SET83.tmp.
Action performed: Deny access

I of course canceled the download and denied access. While this won't run on XP, still , why is it there? Is there a reason for this?

Paul

Ok, I was informed the Panda detection is a false positive, no worries then...

Anyone else use this or have some issues with xoftspy ? I went over the registry again and found nothing in the way of memory monitor, so this goes beyond FP's.
I scanned with all sorts of things, nothing has detected it.
False info is more like it.

Paul
