Hi all. simple question if I upgrade Norton Internet Security 2007 to 2008 do I have to un-install 2007 first, or does 2008 install over 2007.
Please note that I have moved your topic to the Symantec forum from the NAV forum for others to have access to.

Norton 2008 will remove 2007 prior to installing and then install itself

Your best chances for a hassle-free new install is to unistall all Norton 2007 products via Add/Remove and then run the Norton uninstall tool prior to the new install.
I've found it's the best way for a new clean install sans leftovers.

Thanks, that's what I suspected, it seems a lot of hassle so I think I'll stick with 2007 for now.

I decided to finally upgrade to 2008 and it installed over the top of 2007 without a hitch.
Given all the horror stories you read about what a nightmare Norton is I was very impressed and relieved.

Glad it worked out for you. Over at Calendar of Updates, Hardhead started a thread on this same subject - for anyone interested there is additional advice there (most of it the same as here) along with a couple of screen shots, the methodology Hardhead used to upgrade, and some of the quirks that he encountered while upgrading (he had to perform this 6 different times, on XP and Vista machines).
The link to the post is here. _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">
