I administer several organizations' email and Web related activities. All have agreed to allow me to have their potential spam redirected to several email accounts which I regularly scour for spam and false positives. In this way, not a single legitimate message is lost and all spam that has been caught is reported.
1. I'm not necessarily against unsolicited advertising. However, I am against cheap mass advertising that merely attempts to hold my own or my clients' inboxes captive for their 5 seconds of fame. I believe Knujon to be a service which helps a would-be marketer make the correct choice between legitimate and illegitimate advertising. More to the point, Knujon gives those who choose unwisely feedback regarding their mistake. I look at this as proactive quality control for email advertising.
2. Since I've begun participating some time ago, Knujon has proven to be committed to their service. They have implemented many new reporting features which prove to me that they are not only serious about fighting spam in general but doing so accurately, intelligently, and efficiently.
3. The goal of Knujon is something that I work toward myself if I were independently wealthy or had an abundance of free time.
4. The idea of immediately reducing spam, to me, assumes that we've already received the most we can possibly receive. I believe the goal of Knujon to be raising the costs and reducing the benefits of doing illegitimate e-mail business. This is far more intriguing to me than simply providing me a whole in which I can bury my head. Knujon provides me with a mechanism with which I can report spam without forcing my clients or their correspondents to do anything differently.
As a consumer Knujon helps me to state that I am not a clueless putz just waiting to spend my next dollar. If you have a great product or service, tell me about it without trickery and deceit.
As one who works in the field of Internet advertising, I find comfort in the knowledge that Knujon is helping to herd the black hat crowd into the corner where they belong. Scammers and spammers have helped to devalue almost every aspect of the Internet. Knujon forces them, rather than us, to alter their routines.
Almost forgot...
The spammers are being paid. I believe their nemesis deserves to be paid even better. Most other services aren't fighting spam, they're masking it...even helping it to evolve. Knujon truly fights spam. _________________ --

After years of participating with Knujon I have stopped. I refuse to participate, much less pay, for something haveing zero impact on my spam. Spam ebbs and flows, as you would expect, but it's clear Knujon is not a part of that process. I see reported a few people reporting less spam, at least for a while. But that is the nature of spam. Long term, Knujon seems to be an utter waste of my time.

Sorry to hear that, f1jim - my own experience is different. Initially, the tidal waves of spam didn't relent in their upward trend; after persisting for a few years, I can positively state that not only has the trend been reversed, I've actually been encouraged to the point of reactivating email addresses I had abandoned, which obviously had an initial spike as well.
Now I feel I have regained reasonable control over email accounts - and there is no doubt in my mind that Knujon's contributions bear a big, big part of that success.
Giving up is not an option. I support Knujon 100%, and I'm @#$%& proud of it, too. And: well said, RoseDreamJ. Together we can win back the terrain lost to the criminal gangs out there.
(BTW: another reason I've replied to this older topic is to invite others who still haven't opted for sponsoring Knujon with a few $$$ - with paid membership - to reconsider and put in a few bucks to the good cause.)
Added PS: for the smart cookie observing that this account doesn't have the "premium" thingie, that's because it's not the account under which I've donated. So there.

CastleCops Premium reward/gif/doo-dad is available from the PayPal Donate button up in the top left corner of the navbar on the left hand side (hyperlink wouldnt work).

I don't suppose anyone can say exactly what effect Knujon has had on anyone's spam levels because of those ebbs and flows. But I will say is that there is a definite downward trend here and it has been that way for at least six months now.
So far, today I have sent nine reports to Spamcop and Knujon. A year ago that would have been over 20 by this time of the day. But today's figures include spam that is received at a domain I have very recently taken over whose previous owner's primary e-mail address is still very much on the web. Some days I get virtually no spam to my old e-mail addresses and it is all from my new domain. I'm afraid I have to disagree with you.

Ahoier, you're absolutely right - they're unrelated; I forgot about that when that afterthought grabbed me.
Anyhow, I'm firmly convinced and satisfied that both CastleCops and Knujon are worthwhile and effective.
